Wineries

The producer register, one line per winery: how it is classified, where it works and how many of its wines we hold. The category is computed from public data and printed with how sure we are.

Every winery is listed with the category we can defend today. Categories are recomputed as new records arrive, so the register fills up in stages rather than all at once.

What the categories mean

Estate winery

Grows and bottles its own grapes: the full cycle from vineyard to label.

Large producer, own vineyards

Large volume with own vineyards; the wider range may use contract fruit.

Industrial producer

Large-scale production, largely from purchased grapes.

Small family winery

A family-scale winery making wine from its own vineyards.

Winery with own production

Makes its own wine; the share of own versus bought grapes is stated on the record.

Winemaking from purchased grapes

Winemaking from purchased grapes, no own vineyards on record.

The classification is computed from public data using a published methodology and may contain errors. Producers can submit corrections and exercise the right of reply. Classification methodology
