Ojaleshi

Ojaleshi is a red variety from Samegrelo; its Megrelian name is read as 'growing on a tree', because it was traditionally trained up trees as a maghlari vine. It ripens very late — in Samegrelo the harvest can run into late November or early December. The wine is deeply coloured with a pronounced varietal aroma; from late-picked grapes it is made naturally semi-sweet, and dry versions are made too.
