Mtsvane Kakhuri

Mtsvane Kakhuri — 'the green one of Kakheti', often labelled simply Mtsvane — is an old white variety from Kakheti, named for the yellowish-green colour of its ripe berries. It is aromatic and oxidises easily, which is why it is often blended with Rkatsiteli or Kisi; in qvevri it gives a fuller, darker wine with stone-fruit notes. It is the only grape of the Manavi PDO and adds aroma to Rkatsiteli in Tsinandali and Vazisubani.
