Krakhuna

Krakhuna is a white variety from central Imereti, around Sviri, Obcha and Dimi; in the local dialect its name means 'crunchy'. It accumulates sugar while keeping its acidity and gives full-bodied wines both in the European style and in the Imeretian way in qvevri, where the wine turns deep amber. Late-harvested grapes are also used for fortified and dessert wines, and its wines improve noticeably with age.
