Aladasturi

Aladasturi is a red variety from Guria and Imereti; it was widespread before fungal diseases and phylloxera and was traditionally trained up trees. It ripens late, at the end of October. Despite its thick skins the wine is fairly pale ruby, light-bodied and moderate in alcohol; overripe grapes are used for semi-sweet wine.
